Tree full of boxes and birds

I wanted to post the last up-date on my Wrens but I needed a wood project to show. So here is a tree full of boxes, a copy from Joe Weaver about a week ago. Made this while waiting for glue and varnish to dry. I loved his idea and hope he will take my copy as flattery for his work and idea. My box is BKP right on a big knot.

Anyhow, the birds were in their nest when I got to the shop and got fed their breakfast. Then one by one they jumped to the ground where they scattered throughout the shop. Later with mom and dad calling, they all huddled together for lunch and then adios. It was neat to watch them from nest building to eggs to babies and then flying away. It took only a little more than 2 weeks. Hope they’ll remember for next year and come back.

This will be the last bird up-date and next project, already started, is a BKP coffee table using some beautiful wood from the BKP King, Monte Putman. I’ve already ordered another shipment from him as I will need more to finish the table. That should take me about 10 days as I am currently selling some of my Bonsai plants on Ebay and am busy photographing and advertising them. Sold 3 last week for a very nice amount, enough to pay Monte.

Thanks to y’all who followed the bird saga, it was fun.

Very cool box. I love how you incorporated the knot into the design.

the little babies are so cute, and now are off to the new world, how exciting, its always sad to see them go, you have been a good human papa for them, letting them live in your shop and giving them a good home, thanks so much george, i know they will come back next year, they have too, the rates are just right….lol..oh and i love the box, very nice indeed…

I hope y’all know that my friend, the BKP King is Monte Pittman. Sometimes I feel so stupid when I make a mistake in someone’s name. This memory thing with old people is a bummer. Sorry about that, Monte.

Thanks for the comments and the boxes are really Joe’s idea and mine, just a poor copy but it was fun trying to figure out how it was done.

I do like the “Knot Straight” boxes!

Wrens and swallows are alright—- squirrels and crows are not on my “like-List” though!

Squirrels are just rats with a good publicity agent and a make-over!!!

A beautiful box and a beautiful story. Thank you!

The tree box turned out super!

And the Carolina Wrens are some of my favorite birds.

Thanks for sharing.

Monte is not only the BKP King, he’s a great guy, and a year older today!
