A couple small white oak boxes with handmade wooden hinges. Both boxes have hinges made from white oak. Finished with Danish oil and wipe-on poly. They are waiting for a nice wax rubdown before the giving away occurs! Sorry the first pic is so blurry. I thought it was just my eyesight!

It’s been several years since you posted this, but I would like some advice please.

I have recently begun making small boxes with no metal parts, using wood dowels as hinge pins. The photo of the last box shows a lid with a bracket and a dowel through it. I’d like to attempt that system, but how do you locate the hole for the dowel? If you get it wrong, it seems like the top would hit the back of the box and refuse to open.

Is there a formula to help with location?
