Ambrosia maple bowl.
Approx. 8”x4”.
Finish is 3 coats of Behlens Woodturners finish and about 6 coats of Minwax gloss wipe on poly.
I had completely finished the outside and turned it around and was hollowing it out and it came off the lathe at about mach 3, it broke the base where it came off of the chuck and dented the outside in several places.
fortunately the walls were still thick enough to start over.
I got the blank from Woodcraft’s recent spring cleaning sale.
I am really pleased with the way this one turned out, it is my largest piece to date.

Looks like you recovered it very well! I think the profile you gave it is great!
I haven’t turned any of this material as of yet. Does it have hard and soft areas or is it just like a solid chunk maple?
