I took some scrap 2×10’s cut them into slats then a few pieces if scrap pine for the side if lid and wood burned a cool kid friendly popular pic. Put some Lin sees oil on to bring out color. Gold hinges and done. Sorry pics side ways doing this from my phone. I will fix when I get in PC:)

No need to call it scrap. The finished box doesn’t know, or care, if it’s made from short pieces or long pieces. It only reduces the value of your work. The finished product “is what it is”. Just my opinion.
