Segmented Vases

Here are some segmente vases that I turned on my new lathe. I figured what better project to actually test the lathe on to see how it would work. :-)

The first one is Cherry and purpleheart.

The second one is Walnut and Maple

The third is walnut and Australian Cypruss

The fourth one is maple walnut and Oak. This one didnt turn anything the way that I wanted it to. The oak really stands out and not in a good way. The finish is fine just the looks of it to my eye isnt very appealing.

Nice looking vases, what kind of finish did you use?

I use a two part finish after sanding. i use Mylands sanding sealer and then Mylands friction Poly. genereally once in a while I will use another but that is pretty much what I always use.
