Pepper Mill/Salt Shaker Combination, Again

The wood used are Walnut, Padauk, Maple and I’m not sure what the 4th wood is. The final blank was supposed to look like the woods were glued up diagonally, they looked great just viewing the blank, but once turned it kind of lost the effect.

I used the equal parts BLO and Shellac finish on this one – it really is a no fuss finish that really looks great (in my opinion).

I have also been working hard to improve my photography skills, I hope these photo are clear enough for everyone to view without straining.

i like the pepper mill. the pattern is different. i might try that one myself, if you don’t mind. i have done some diagonal glue ups. always used the same thickness of lumber and did a corner to corner cut on the band saw then glued it up again with uncut sides glued together. squared up the blank then turned it.

I think it’s awesome Bill. I like the wood combos very much. I like where you placed the burnt rings as well. Nice turning.
