This was a recent project of mine. A 6’ reclaimed barnwood countertop for a china hutch and kitchen island. This project was for a new home and the client wanted to blend a rustic, yet modern look in their home. The island will receive granite countertops on the bar top and bottom counter as well. All of the materials came from a local farmhouse that dated back in the 1800’s.

And the “old” wood lives on…thanks for sharing.

i’m always getting after my dad’s cousins who have a huge barn that is falling down with some massive timbers inside, not to mention about three big stacks of walnut lumber that have been stored in the loft for probably 50+ years. they keep saying they are going to use it “someday,” BUT THE PLACE IS COMING DOWN…. ahhhhhhhhh… they also have a field full of dodge’s that are just rusting away… won’t restore them, won’t sell them…. why are they doing this? darn bachelor farmers, don’t care about nuthin.

I know what you mean. Some people would rather leave it until it falls and rots in the ground. Seeing the beauty in this old wood makes it hard to see it go to waste!
