Hi all, these some of the bits of timber I’ve played around with.
The first table is a Kauri root with a Camphor top, next is a Rimu Lazy Susan, a coffee table made of swamp Kauri, a toilet vanity made with recycled Rimu, a swamp Kauri cutting board and a Tanekaha bench-top.

where did you find swamp kauri? i don’t think i have ever seen it at any of my local hardwood suppliers, nor have i seen in online that i recall. all i know about it is that it can be amazing (the block you have looks absolutely beautiful), and very expensive.

A local farmer was recovering a large sum of logs from a swamp, got a chance to get some off-cuts after milling.
Alot of the logs are being exported to China, apparently to be used as coffins.
the timber from the outside of the trunk, near branches looks nice, I think the internal wood does look nice but a bit plain. Cheers.

The figure in the cutting board is gorgeous. That stump table is cool too.
