Convertible umbrella stand / end table

I made this before I knew how to do a mortise and tenon, so it is just glued and screwed. I used dimensional lumber so all I had to do was cut them to length and assemble it.

I thought I would have it inside as a table whenever the umbrella wasn’t up, so I left the center tile loose, then I have a hole in the plywood top, and some support rails down below to hold the umbrella post. You could also put some weight on the lower shelf if the wind was blowing.

Nice deck table and the loose tile idea for an umbrella seems to please the dogs !!
