I started by creating only one of these planters for my mother for Mother’s Day. Yet through the power of social media I wound up making 7 more and have orders for 3 more. Never thought that I would actually be making some cash by doing wood work. Until now it had only ever been a hobby.

If any of you fellow LJ’s have any advice for making the transition from hobby to part time job or even career I am all wars and would love to hear from you.

Thanks for looking at my planters.

In case you are ever looking to make more planters like this and are searching for materials, what you have there is more than likely steel, not tin. Tin doesn’t rust. Tin is what is often used by cabinetmakers in things like pie safes. Punched tin looks awesome, dont get me wrong, but it wont look like what you have there on your planters.

Good work!
