Inspired by my Adirondack chair build, I also took on building a new patio table and benches. It is 60” square and 30” tall. The benches are 20” high x 16” deep by 48” wide. What’s nice is that they will slide all the way under the table and be out of the way. The slats are 5/4 cedar decking. The legs were cut from 4×4 stock—3” square for the table and 2 1/2” for the table. Mortise and tenon joinery for the aprons. All the cut edges are routed with a round over to match the factory edge. There is a support rail at the midway point of the table slats. After these two builds, everything around my house smells like cedar—including me. Now to the finish—will use some deck stain.
I think it will look great with that first picnic feast on top—just hope there’s lots of watermelon.
