Hello all, I had been seeing pictures of these and got up the courage to make one.
The wood is poplar and purple heart, as you can see I glued up 2 blanks.
I finished it with spar urethane, and polished it up with some minwax it really brought out the color
The finished one went to my 94 year old grandmother, the next one is for my mother.
I watched videos and looked articles and went bought some wood and went to town.

Nice to see that wood combination… really makes it “pop”. I have a few pieces of purple heart, so you’ve given me an idea of good wood options for it. Softening the edges is a plus too. I’m sure you’ll be doing more – enjoy!

I bet you’ll make more band saw boxes in the future! Awesome. Keep it up.
