This is my #2 bowl made with my Jet mini lathe. I purchased the block of wood from a local hardwood dealer. Once i got the chunk roughed out I discovered this was going to more tricky than I bargained for. It had some voids , knots , and other checks in the grain. Although this was a major SCORE i wish my skill level was slightly better then just my second bowl. Four hours later this is what I got. If you are a turner , what would you recommend for the finish? I am planning on putting some lacquer on it. I can only imagine what that will reveal. (The last photo shows the original walnut purchased.)Thanks for checking this out!

I think walnut always looks good with an oil finish then simething hard and shiny on top of that. Danish oil then a spray laquer looks good on my walnut bowls, I think.

Bowl looks good, bout got that lathe maxed out too.
