Hi all,

About 6 years ago I made my first attempt at 3D Intarsia. I made the dolphin for my father on Father’s Day. My dad passed away recently, at 93, and this came back to me. There was no finish on the original work and none ever put on. I think it is pretty the way it oxidized. The wood is Poplar and the driftwood is from a local beach.

thank you for looking

I love it. I think the patina (if that is the right word) is fantastic and hits a little bit of reality. My Father passed in November of 2012. Your dolphin makes me think of how I felt then (and now when I think about him). I felt a little grey and colorless then. I think it is a perfect representation of our feelings when loved ones pass away. Thank you for posting this.
