I’m slowly creating a whole living room set in the same design and here is a bookshelf made from Cherry and Walnut. It’s actually a lot stronger than I thought it would be. I can stand on those shelves or load them up completely with books with no issue. This is the last project I made with the junk planer, it made the boards wavy and chipped out the figuring in the cherry. I went back over it with scrapers to try to get it to look good.

to get the mirror finish I’ve found if you put it on in the middle of summer when the heat and humidity is very high you end up with a better finish. I think it slows down the drying process and the polyurethane has more time to level itself out and any air bubbles don’t get trapped.

I built a set like this over the Winter, going to build a few more this Summer I think. Incredibly strong design, yours look great!

Casanova Frankenstein? That from the Mystery Men?? Great movie. But what’s even better is the shelf. I love the design and those curved shelves are sweet!
