The Winchester 1873 rifle was the “Rifle that Won the West.”
This was my first lever action and only rifle made and was my first YouTube Video.

More on this project can be seen at

The rubber band version of the rifle was designed by RBguns and the plans and tutorial are available at

I am sitting here telling myself I need to build one of these for my kiddo….sounds like a good excuse for me to have one to play with, no? How long did this actually take to make?

I takes me about a month from start to finish to build any of the guns, but I work really slow. Generally (If I don’t have plans) I will model the gun in SketchUp and export it to AutoCAD then do a set of pdf plans with print out templates. I think if you wanted (and had the plans), you could build one in about a week. They are fun, Good Luck.

I just downloaded the plans for this and will be making one for my (fifty) 5 year old adolescent (me) for his (my) birthday next week. This looks like a really fun project to build with the added bonus of target practice when the build is over. Thanks JbWo!

A little ahead of you, (seventy) 1 year old adolescent. Happy Birthday. It is a fun hobby. There are a lot of guns and tutorials and plans available on YouTube.
The Single Action Army Revolver is similar construction by RBguns also a nice gun to build.
The plans and tutorials are available at

Nice jb. I own a replica of the 1873 in 45LC. One of my favorites to shoot.

Nice work on the Winchester.

My favorite lever gun says “Henry” on it .

Still 100% American made and a very good bargain on top of that! They are smooth and accurate.

Always make toy guns to look as authentic as possible…..because what could go wrong?
