I have had this very unusual spaltted Persimmon board for a long time and wanted to make something special.

Decided to do another ” I Got Secrets ” mans jewelry box. I have shown you one of these before but look out this is loud.!!

The box has three secrets. #1 is how to get it open. First you have to find the key by popping open the top. Do this by pressing down on the left side of the tops bookmatched medallion which is held in place with a couple magnets. Watch for the small notches in a later pic which shows how the top cantilevers open. #2 you find a secret space with the key. A playing card.

Then slide the card in the opening behind the upper front piece and the actual top front piece. Slide half way over and it will move a plunger made into the front top piece and the top will lift right open.

#3 Secret The box base is made to slide forward and contains a drawer which is just right for a protection device and some shells. This drawer can be locked if you want by dropping a brass pin into a hole in the lower divided section in bottom of the box to keep it from sliding out.

There is a lift out tray and a divided lower section under that.

There are many pieces to this project and it has been fun developing each one to work as they should. I have taken them to shows for several years and no one has found the secrets yet. I know this is long and some of you have seem my secret boxes before but I thought this piece of wood deserved to be shown. Thanks for looking.

Absolutely a beautiful box with a great choice of lumber. You were right, this is a special wood. I am going back to read the secrets again to understand it better.
