DeWalt 618 Router Speed Control Fix

I have a couple DeWalt DW618 routers that are 8-10 years old and have seen heavy use. They both started acting up in the same way. During a cut, the speed changes erratically. Most repair shops would recommend replacing the router because a new speed control unit is the same cost as a whole new router. I pulled the carbon brushes and they were all chipped away. Replacing the brushes totally fixed one of the routers. No more stalling under load. The repairs had no effect on the other (older) router. But, the brushes were cheap and worth a try.
