Baby Brooklyn has arrived! August 4, 8 lbs 14oz, 20 inches long. Needless to say we are very happy, and a little sleep deprived.

Baby and me at the hospital…

She is too cute.

Hmmm, looks familiar…

Daniel is taking it in stride- what a champ

On another note, Weird Al has been following me around
There are way too many inside jokes with this video- my wife is sure it’s about me.

See!! Even Panda Express thinks so….

Here we have my B-day gift from the in-laws…they should come in handy for my next project…

I made a base for the vise so I can mount it to the bench.

Yep, works great…

My shop light is being used for other purposes at the moment…

Here I’ve made a 25 degree jig to check the angles on the tools I’m making…

First up is a froe. This was actually made by a friend of my Dad’s in Mexico. I asked him to find me a leaf-spring to make one (since he’s a mechanic) and he went ahead and made me 2! Love it!

And for the price of one drawknife, I bought a book on how to make your own tools and some 01 tool steel. This just might become obsessive… If I start talking about bronze dovetail infill planes: slap me and remind me the purpose is to make a tool…for woodworking. I also discovered I can’t cut a straight line with a hacksaw to save me life. Any tips?

Beautiful Baby! My advice, lose the hacksaw, get a plasma cutter.

Congratulations on your new Princess. She reminds me of my two daughters when they were born. Our first slept thru the night after 3 days. Our second slept thru the night after 4 Years.
P.S. Good luck on the tools!

Congratulations Phillip on your new daughter! She is very cute and will no doubt be bossing you around in no time.

I can cut straight with a hacksaw, but I’m no sure why. It might help to be extra aware that you cut on the push stroke with good force, but try to avoid contacting the metal on the back stroke. For some reason that works for me. Maybe it’s a Zen thing.

The froe looks great and I wanted one when I was working with green wood. A very handy tool. The blades look great too. Have fun with all your new stuff.
