Incra Cleansweep Magnalock rings for Incra/JessEm Mast-R-Lift II

Incra Cleansweep Magnalock rings for Incra/JessEm Mast-R-Lift II

I’ve had my Mast-T-Lift II for a while now in a shop built router table. It’s set up for under table dust collection and does pretty well but I am always looking for was to improve dust collection, especially for routing. Recently, I purchased the Cleansweep magnalock rings in the hope they would help. Well, they do. I did some simple tests with the stock magna lock rings and then with the clean sweep ones. I routed a 3/8” x 1/2” rabbet in several pieces of pine....

Mast-r-lift with Incra magnalock plates

This lift is “sorta” branded by Incra but it’s basically the JessEm Mast-R-Lift II with the Incra MagnaLock insert plates. I am assuming this is made and shipped by JessEm. I purchased it through the Incremental Tools web site. In some ways this JessEm/Incra partnership is a tale of two companies (apologies to Mr Dickens). While all the Incra products I have bought have had superb engineering and packaging, the JessEm kind of came up a bit short. I also installed a ne...

Separator for shop vac

Separator for shop vac

This is distributed by Woodcraft. The first picture shows the contents of the box. I bought it to build a sanding vac cart – separator and a small shop vac with a HEPA filter plus an auto switch for the vac. It was on sale for (iirc) $49.95, regular price $79.95. I went to check the price on the Woodcraft web site but it didn’t come up in the search. I know my local store had them as recently as mid January. A label on the side of the box even says “woodcraft”. Not ...

Impulse purchase - seems ok but..

So in the question feed my addiction, I swung by Rockler. The protractor was on sale for $10. The sales guy told me that they are going to be on sale in the new flyer for $15. I’m kind of a sucker for measuring tools so I bought it. First impression – it is well made. The ruler moves smoothly and the tightening knob works well. The display is easily readable. It shows .1 degree measurements. Probably the biggest drawback is how you calibrate it. As you can see in the pict...

Wow, talk about misleading ratings

Wow, talk about misleading ratings

I have yet to use this product but was struck by their labeling when I opened it up. The first picture shows the outside of the box clearly stating 15A current capacity. The second picture shows the inside where the device itself says 12A and the sticker says 9A. No where on the outside does it say 9 (or even 12) amps. While I get that ratings can change, having 3 different ratings is disturbing. I think it’s really bad when the outside says one thing but the inside says another. T...

Makita Track Saw - excellent product at a good price

I’ve had the SP6000 for about a month now and used it a number of times. Mostly, I’ve broken down 3/4” and 18 mm plywood but also done finer work including most of the final cuts for several Baltic Birch shop cabinets. Yesterday I cut 1/2” off the bottom of a painted door. More on this in a bit… Overall, I really like the SP6000. It works as advertised. Plunging action is smooth, cutting with stock blade is surprisingly clean and dust collection is pretty...
