Tabletop Wood Movement Explained (animation) - 9 replies

I can’t get out in the shop because it’s all packed up for a move, so I made an animation to help newcomers understand wood movement. Watch animation video here.

Router Table Mortising Jig - 5 replies

There has to be a way to make mortises on a router table better than just dropping your piece down and sliding it. Using a double fence might work but there are still problems and things that could make it easier. With all the problem solvers we have in this site, surely we can come up with something.

Is there such thing as a 1/4'' diameter pattern bit for box joints on the dovetail jig? - 2 replies

I figure if your bearing rides against the jig, you should get perfect box joints every time. The only problem is I can’t find a pattern bit with a diameter smaller than a 1/2 inch.

I never use my Bandsaw - 20 replies

I listen to the Fine Woodworking podcast a lot. I love it. It’s very entertaining and not too corny. One of the questions they get asked all the time is from beginners wondering what big machine to buy first. The answer is always that if you could only have one machine in your shop or take one machine with you to a remote island, make it a...
