Hi .
My name is Pat May I have been a professional carpenter for 20 +years. Mostly working for larger companies. Trained as a cabinet maker. Now I build trade show booths. I enjoy working with real wood. I live in a town home , with a small shop in the basement
Smaller projects are more my speed. I enjoy making boxes, they are the right size for my short attention span. I am always looking for the perfect piece of pencil line spalted Maple .
I stay away from tropical woods. I don't know whos' rainforest they cut down to get it. I try to only work with domestic lumber or salvaged wood, some I find in the local tree trimming lot, destined for the fire place. Some I dig out of the ground. I do not use any stains on my projects. I finish my boxes with oil and wax. I never use stains I feel that I did not use the right piece of wood if I have to stain it different color.
Bog woods are the ultimate in recycling. Imagine working with a piece of wood that grew 50,000 years before you were born. It is amazing to hold a piece of wood and to think of what was going on when the tree was growing. What the area looked like? What animals were walking beneath its branches?

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
