I challenged myself to design a modern mission style desk. The contrast between the two styles was challenging. I enjoy designing with Sketchup (and the rendering engine, Kerekythea) as much as actually being in the shop.

Some specifics: The drawer pulls are hammered copper, and sunk into cutouts in the drawer, as contrasted to being attached through the drawer front by a screw. All cherry and ebonized cherry. 6′ 4″ long by 32″ at the deepest. The top is 30″ high, and has 25″ of leg clearance.

Amazing renderings!
I have been using sketchup for quite some time to get a feel for proportions and to work out construction details. The photo-realistic renderings look like a really useful next step.
How long did it take you to go from your sketchup model to the beautiful renderings?
Do you have any advice on getting started with Kerkythea? i.e. any website you found particularly helpful?

bfaubion The renderings import right into Kerkythea - there is a plugin for SU for it. When you are ready to start it, hit me up, I'll give a quick tutorial to do renderings like this - it's really easy.
