Identify unusual edge trimming plane - 6 replies

Hi all, Picked up this trimmer at a flea market. Has a wooden tote handle which seems unusual for a trimmer and can’i find anything like it on the internet. Anyone recognize it or have an idea who the manufacturer might have been?

Old Taiwan band saw identity and correct tooth bevel for cross cut saw - 2 replies

Hi all. Picked up this band saw at a garage sale for a good price and have searched the internet intensely to try and work out the manufacturer but can’t find anything like it. It’s made out of aluminum, Taiwan 1983, and has a 1/3 hp motor. It’s old but still runs really smooth and quiet so I presume it was from a quality ma...

Roof tar for hand plane japanning? - 20 replies

It was screwed in at a weird angle (because of its size) and I knew it was wrong but wasn’t concerned cause I had a proper one (pictured) in my spares box. I was just intrigued what a small two holed tote would have come ...

Shelton knob screw - 49 replies

Hi all in the US, I’m inquiring from Australia where I have inherited a made in the USA 1933 Shelton plane that was a gift to my granny and grandpa due their hospitality to a US serviceman who was based here during the second world war. I want to fully restore it as a memoir of that occasion and while most of the plane is still in pr...
