To woodbutcher7 among others I will try to answer your question of time spent on the Mission Dresser.
As for the time spent it is hard to tell? (I need to do more time keeping I suppose?) A good estimate would be 25-30 plus hours counting the finish time. I had to tweak the color of the Aniline dye and do the red wine blends to get the Black Cherry color with the glimmer of red, _ (I love find the answers to a challenge.) When mixing the Ebony I had to add some colors such as brown walnut even a little red Etc. At first I applied my black mix expecting a black wood, guess what? It came out Purple then I added the earth colors brown walnut etc. to get the black I was looking for. I kept color samples of the wood in order to remix if needed. Why not just mix the same ratio on the next batch? Good question I am glad you ask. {I do keep any leftover dye until I use or it evaporates}. Using the same ratio is a good starting point but the absorption rate and the pigments in another batch of lumber may be somewhat different so I work with each project separately using the saved color sample as a reference – {it is just interesting to do}, I get caught up In may shop time while I am working on a new project. Thanks for asking hope this is a reasonable reply.
