WOODCRAFT REFUSED TO SERVE ME!
On June 1, 2020 I went to my local Woodcraft store in Dayton, Ohio.
I went there intending to get some new diamond sharpening stones. But, when I got there I was told that I had to put on a mask if I was going to be in the store. I told them I wasn't going to do that. They informed me that they were not going to serve me. I said "This is a free country!" One of the employees took off his mask and said "It's not about freedom, it's that we have some elderly employees here and we want to keep them safe". FYI, I was the only customer in the store. Everyone else was an employee. They were all wearing masks. WTF?
I don't typically rant about things, but this is just getting stupid! I visited this same store last year, sometime in the fall, I think - I don't really remember. So let me ask, if the flu season is typically from October to April, why weren't they wearing masks then? When I was there last, every employee they had working that day was over 55. They didn't tell me to put on a mask because it was flu season! WTF is wrong with these people.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being cautious and safe. I'm all for staying home of you are sick and could potentially cause someone else to get sick. However, If I'm not sick, and you're not sick, if you decide to wear a mask, and I decide NOT to wear a mask, don't think for a minute that you can tell me that I HAVE to wear a mask before I can shop in your store. You DO NOT get to choose for me what I will and won't do.
As soon as I left the store I posted a video of the incident. You can watch if you want. If you do watch it and you agree leave a comment and share the video with as many people as you know. We don't have to put up with this kind of treatment from anyone. Especially in a "free" country.
Woodcraft has lost me as a customer for life. They have also lost thousands of dollars that I would spend as well as thousands of dollars that others would have spent as a result of this one event. I plan on telling every woodworker I know about this. Maybe you will think twice about supporting a company where the moto is "THE CUSTOMER IS NEVER RIGHT!"
