no previous part Part 1 of Laser Engraving on the Jersey Shore series no next part

I used to operate a Laser Engraving business from my garage here on the Jersey Shore (Freehold). Most of my items were for Sports Teams where I would engrave varies sizes of imported Polish Wooden Boxes…. sometimes directly into the wood, sometimes with gold foil and sometimes in conjunction with various acrylic plates (that I engraved and then pasted to the inner lid). We also engraved on glass, aluminum dog tags, drum sticks, baseball bats, clocks, etc. My equipment was a couple of ULS 300 Series Lasers. I had a college kid to help me with the CorelDraw software.

Unfortunately, this was just about the time of the great recession and no one had extra cash for non-essentials; we closed up and sold our Lasers to a paper greeting-card manufacturer down south. Long story short, I would like to get back into it but i would rather not invest the 100K to get restarted. Especially now, since I have no accounts and no regular customers. I was wondering if there are any small Laser businesses out there that would like a salesperson / technician to share your workspace and equipment? I figure that I would pay you a base rate per month of $500 plus a percentage of anything that I sell. I would hope that the $500 would buy me 20 hours per month on your machines and that you would rent me additional hours – as needed – at $25 per hour. All this is certainly negotiable and I would certainly cover insurance premiums, supplies, etc. And I would certainly sign an “at my own risk” agreement so you wouldn’t be concerned about liability.

In addition, I am a good salesperson who can help you. I truly understand that many Laser Engravers have the extra capacity ready if they had the projects, so I believe that I could invigorate your business. Please contact me.

(I just joined the Lumberjacks forum, I apologize in advance if there is any problem with this type of listing)

I don’t see any problem with your posting Dave. But, you may be barking up the wrong tree on this site too. While many of us have hobby-grade lasers to enhance our woodworking, I don’t know if the type of business you are looking for is really represented in this community. But, it never hurts to ask :-)) In any case, best of luck in your endeavors!

Great idea but like Ken said I don’t know if that guy is represented here. Most lj members seem to work out of their homes in a one man operation. I can hear my wife now. “You said the guy in the garage is WHO?” :-)

But ya never know. Good luck.
