I’m very happy my diamond stones arrived! I quickly honed a chisel just to see… Wow! That’s what sharp means! Already happy! Now I’m cutting pockets in the support board for the stones: One down, 3 to go!

Part 2: Ready for finish

Not exactly a complicated project, but we all start somewhere! I’m finding more and more I like hand tools. I did use a router to do the bulk removal from the pockets, but knife lines and chisels left me with nice tight pockets without a lot of fuss and no fixturing the router. I popped holes in the plywood behind the pockets to make for easy extraction of the stones if needed.
