I am a retired auto repair shop owner. I have been a hobby wood worker for 40+ years. I enjoy building furniture, toys, games & oddball projects. I have also built a woodstrip canoe and 3 "stitch & glue" kayaks. New to the grandfather scene I have been busy with toys.
I am a 'tool-a-holic' but have only a 12 x 15 basement shop. It suits me well as I can work evenings all winter in a warm shop. It doesn't work very well, however to build 18 foot canoes or kayaks :)
I love to try new projects but have trouble getting enthused about building more than a few of any one project.
This is, by far, the best woodworking site I have found and appreciate the upbeat, encouraging attitude it exudes. Lots of fantastic projects of high quality.

Where do you live in Washington, would love to see a picture of your kayak. I have built several.
