December is a time of giving, of appreciation, and of family. There is no better time to look back at the quickly passing year of 2009 and see if this website and community was a valuable source of free inspiration, motivation and knowledge for your woodworking passion. If your time here at LJ for 2009 was time well spent and you decide to support LJ financially, you can do so now by participating in the LumberJocks Donation Drive 2009.

Donation funds will be used mostly:

  • to cover marketing expenses for wood show displays. The first official LumberJocks display was set up and attended by some of our members at the Sacramento Woodworking Show. (A special thanks to Ira for all the hard work!) This was a huge success and plans are in place to do this again – as well by other LumberJocks members, in other locations. We would like to be able to provide some promotional materials for such events. You will see the first results at the coming Chicago Woodworking Show where LJ booth will be featuring a large banner and a pack of LJ buttons.
  • to organize even more fun challenges and contests

Our site is still free to enter and free to use so it’s just your decision. If you decide to proceed you can choose between donating once or making a recurring contribution each month on our LJ Donation Page.

Participate in LumberJocks Donation Drive 2009 for a chance to get a cool LJ shirt
On January 7, 2010 I will make a random draw and 10 donors will get a cool LJ shirt (Note that all past donors will be included in the draw as well).

Thank you!

Martin, I have tried to donate before but I can’t because of paypal. Because I live out in the country, they will not accept my address and won’t let me sign up. Is there any other way to donate?

I had that problem as well … can’t remember what I did that made it acceptable… “general delivery” perhaps? gave it a street address? “R.R. #” did not work…. somehow I got around it .

Martin this is a great site and everyone should help with what they can…as a growing community I have had less time to get to know everyone but as I approach nearly 1000 days I can tell you the site has enhanced my wood working and my life with all the good people…

Thanks Martin…I have donated for a long time and dont plan to change that anytime soon…keep up all the good work…

This is one of the few places I have time to visit and the time is well spent visiting friends and seeing their projects, not to mention being able to show off my own projects. Martin has done a great job creating and organizing this forum and even greater effort has been put in to upkeep the high quality of this site. I’ve finally put my money where my mouth is and I’m looking forward to spending many more hours here at LJ’s.

Thanks again Martin! Keep up the fantastic work!

Dear Martin,

I have a little question I want to ask you, what brings you to do this, to manage the LJ website?
I think it is not the love for woodworking or is it the American people (your from Europe), is it the money,
maybe from the advertisers (I have no idea), do you have a lot off time, is it your work, what is it?
I know that manage this kind off websites(s), cost you a lot off time.
You have also a wife, a family, your work (I think), we all know in what for time we life.
I’m in all honesty curious what you brings to entertain people on the other side from
the world and a couple in your surrounding.
I hope you can tell u or do I go to far.

Thanks Schummie.

I hope you all forgive my English.

-- Greetings from the Netherlands.

Thanks for your kind words regarding my efforts at the Sacramento WoodworkingShow. But my efforts were dwarfed by those of the other 20-plus member that also helped. Yes, i did organize & push the members to attend/help/participate. And they did with great enthusiam. Napaman, WayneC, Abe Low, RogerSharp, Majeagle, newTim, and at least one dozen others. Without their support/help/participation, my efforts would have fallen flat.

And why did they support/help/participate in the show. Because they, as do I, believe in the ideas of/ goals/mission of LumberJocks.

Please help us keep up the LumberJock community. We will only rise to the level of our leaders. And Martin, you have set some very high standards. You are our leader.

Thanks you, Martin.

Gary, you can mail a check to another member and have them make the donation for you.
