Location: Sydney, Australia

35 year old, happily married with two kids Sam (6) and Ben (4).

Love the feel of wood and want to get into woodwork. Hand tools and their use has attracted me to the craft, whilst I wont rule out using power tools, I am going to try to learn as much as possible with hand tools.
I want to start out with some simple furniture projects as this is my main area of interest but then would like to learn how to turn as well.

Thanks all,

I am only very very new to woodworking ( i love wood but never really thought about actually doing it).

Can anyone guide me on the first hand tools to buy? I would love to make a european style workbench as my first project, is this too ambitious?

I have built a workbench…not a grand one yet but enough to get started. I have built 2 end grain breadboards and am now working on a Ply router table (plans from woodsmith magazine).

Collecting hand tools as well and have a set of chisels, a few old hand saws, 5 older Bailey hand planes and other bits and pieces. Once the router table is built I would like to start lookiing to build a bookcase for starters.
I will have to get around to posting some pics soon.
