Class Projects For 5 year olds - 5 replies

My daughter is in kindergarten and her science class has been talking about wood and building with wood. I had sent some scrap wood and hand plane shavings to her class which they enjoyed. Her teacher has asked if I could put together a project for the children to complete. We are probably talking about 40 kids (2 classes). So far I can thin...

Handcut 3 through dovetails in 3 minutes - 7 replies

Checkout this link to a Popular Woodworking video of Frank Klausz making a dovetail joint by hand with bow saws in 3 minutes. It is an impressive display of skill to say the least. I wonder if I could make one that quickly with a router and jig :). http://popularwoodworking.com/klausz

"Best" Joint? Pocket Hole or Mortise and Tenon - 17 replies

I am designing (meaning I haven’t done much more than early sketches) a platform bed. I intend to make it frame and panel all the way around so that I can make three drawers where the fronts match the other panels. I am a novice / hobbyist and I have used pocket holes a fair bit and found them to be quite strong. But my question is more...
