I have a neighbor across the street who passed on a couple of months ago. She was 97 and had lived in the home since she and her husband married before WWII. They were italian immagrants. Her husband passed in the 80s and was a WWII Vet and longshoreman.

Their children have an estate sale today and opened up the house to the public. What was there was a bookmark of 1940-1970 mid-century social activists. I could feel many stories alive there ; they would have been good dinner company when in good health.

I came out with some vintage block&tackle as well as 2×26” Disston handsaws: a late 1930s skew back D-8 rip saw and a more modern straight back D-23 cross cut (1960s?). At $2/each !

Too bad that the medallions are missing. These are great saws with a new home but will always retain their own memories.
