looking for a nice set of panel saws any recommendations - 1 reply

Hi everyone, I’m looking for two new panel saws. I’ve spent too much time looking and trying to get vintage saws to cut right and I think I’m ready to go with a new set. I’m looking for a rip and crosscut. So far I have been leaning toward the Lie-Nielson panel saws. Any other recommendations?

Hi everyone, I am considering purchasing a Dewalt planer primarily for thickness planning rough cut lumber. This will be my first and only power tool and I was wondering how many “hand tool” builders use a power planer to prep. their wood before moving on.

hand drill - 8 replies

very old #5 Miller Falls hand drill. The chuck works great and the gears turn very smooth. The handle is hollow for storing bits. The top of the handle is cracked and has tape on it. The crack does not effect the use. $25 shipped.

Hand crank grinder (plus Norton 3X wheel and diamond flatter) - 0 replies

Suggestions for not turning a straight chisel into a skew chisel while hand sharpening - 9 replies

Hi everyone, I have been working on hand sharpening chisels and can get a pretty good edge, but I have noticed that after a number of rounds on the diamond plates my chisels are taking on a skew. I’ve tried to apply pressure to both sides of the chisel when honing, but for some reason, hopefully some of you can help me with, my chisels...
