Museeums Malmö Sweden

Museeum Malmö Sweden
MaFe on tour…

My mother was kind to invite my daughter Mathilde and I, for a Little two days tour to Malmö Sweden, to celebrate Easter.
Living in Copenhagen Denmark it is no more than a small drive by car, so we set of in the morning and were there less than two hours later, after having crossed the bridge that now connects our two countries.
We spend two good days, but I will not tire you with the family album, just share some of what inspired me.

First we visited Malmö hus museum .
They have some amazing paintings, they would have been worth the whole trip.

But yes also wood was presented there, have to admit this one impressed my a wee.
Such beauty in the work, material and motif.
I did not write down names of carpenters or painters, sorry, when I took the pictures I was not thinking to share them, it was just for my memory.

Curves of raw beauty.

Can a handle become more elegant than this?

I can see Japanese flowers.

Stilleben.

With opening mechanism.

Curves and colors.

Simply elegant, elegantly simple.

Quiet perfection.

How can I put words on this.

My sweet Mathilde drawing, my daughter talks about walking my food steps as an architect, so she is training her drawing skills.

Not a easy task to draw, so I am proud to see her result.

Guess who?
One of my favorite paintings, it has to me a calmness, a Scandinavian quietness I think reflects it's time.

Wohhooo
This is brilliant. Gerald Summers 1934.

(Info: Did you know: Isaac I. Cole (American). Patent Model for One-piece Plywood Chair. Date: 1873).

Perfection.

Rhythm.

Less is more with a twist.

Nice legs!

In the hands of an artist, more can become less.

More is more.

Simple living with a twist.

Notice the arm rests.

King to queen.

Something to think about.

Simple game box.

King sized furniture.

I did say it!
(Don't know the people on the pic, but now I have evidence they touched the museum pieces, so perhaps I should send the picture to Malmö museum… lol.

I think I know a few LJ's that will enjoy a few of these.

Love'n wood.

Love the simplicity in this one.

All can become a lot of nothing.

Fire in wood.

Take off.

This is just so awesome!

I love every detail.

Also the wooden wheels.

MaFe's?

The Castle museum.

Turning torso of Malmö.
Looks like rising from the ashes.

Important!
Most of all, due to this guys smile.

City walk.

Also visited Malmö modern museum, but no wood here…

Mathilde took this picture of her father taking a rest against a wall down town before we were going back to Denmark, wonder if it was a lotto ticket on the ground…

Thank you for joining me for this little Malmö tour.

The best of my thoughts,
Mads

You were right Mads. Some of us enjoyed those photos of the marquetry.
Actually, I enjoyed it all. You who live in Europe have much easier access to these old treasures than we in the colonies and it is good to see that you do not take this privilege for granted.
Even better, you share it with us.

Thanks.

I stole several of your pictures there Mads (ahem coughs ). Amazing stuff in that museum, but I think that which amazed me the most is actually Mathilde's picture, she's grown like crazy!! And reading that she wants to follow the way and become an architect left me with a wide smile :) What's not to love! Hey, Happy Easter by the way!

Enjoyed the tour a lot Mads, thanks for taking us with. Lots of interesting art and woodwork. I found the American chair to be very special since it was so modern yet designed in the 19th century. The bike was also amazing. No chain, it must have a drive axle(s), something I have never seen before. I see that your lovely daughter Mathilde is all grown up now. That reminds me of the quote I read today from a 100 year old lady " I was born, I blinked and now it's almost over".

Hi,
CFrye, big smile from the heart here, yes she is no doubt my favorite creation and the only piece of art that can touch me that deep into my roots of love.
robcastle, drive safe. ;-)
Roger, hope you remembered your toothbrush.
SPalm, now you got me thinking… what is he thinking about…
Lew, thanks for joining, I did feel my back a wee heavy.
Stefang, " I was born, I blinked and now it's almost over", that almost made me cry, so beautiful, yes life sure moves so fast, especially when we look at our children we realize it was like yesterday, that we were there our self.
Look at the links below.
Sodabowsky, no you are welcome to use the pictures, PM me if you need better resolution. Mathilde, yes I am a lucky man and what ever path she takes in life, I can feel her in my heart.
siavosh, then you will pass my shop. ;-)
Tyvekboy, yes they are so beautiful.
Jim, yes it was, you have to take a look at the links below. I think the problem with these are they loose too much energy in the gears… but they sure are beautiful.
Shipwright, yes I was thinking about you in particular when I saw that marquetry, I took plenty of pictures so you had something to enjoy.
Bricofleur, thank you. Those were really kind words, big warm smile.
Revieck, laugh, yes I guess I have to be more awake… I do believe she was single like me. ;-)
helluvawreck, humor? me? Nothing funny about woodworking… Laugh. Thanks.
Best thoughts to all of you,
Mads
