Supersander
answer to so many LJ's questions
Hi guys' girls.
During these last years I have been asked again and again what was this drum sanding thing I often use for shaping. Last it was our friend Kiefer, Klaus that send me a email and here are my best answer.
Ladies and gent's this is the Supersander.
Or just a sandpaper on a foam rim, placed on a plastic core.
No magic just soft surface rotating sandpaper.
And I love it.
Even mounted it in my drill press at times when I needed a 90 degrees angle.
Perfect for free hand curves.
Here the setup I use now.
Old plastic can, a piece of ply clamped to table, a cord drill and a drill holder, this attached to the shop wac.
Side view.
The Supersander, that's the name it's sold under in Denmark.
Other side.
Put apart.
What you do to change sandpaper.
Foam.
You can use what ever grid you like, I use normally 80.
(Important to mount in running direction).
Hopla.
Then put together.
Here you see the simple setup.
And the high tech wac system.
Of course you can use other drums also.
Or other machines…
Polish.
- and shine.
Hmmmm, hope this explains it.
Here a few links, but I have not been able to find a US supplier, so pls. help eachother.
The Supersander:
You can try to search: 130 mm foam drum sander… (Perhaps you have to search in inches when in US).

Found one here:
http://www.powertoolsdirect.com/black-and-decker-cushion-drum-sander-set-130mm
It's a foam center you can put on the drill. You can change the sand paper to different grids.
Denmark:

Hope can be useful.
The best of my thoughts,
Mads
