As a kid, I used up every bit of leftover cardboard my parents and grandparents had to make the infamous "Cardboard City," cardboard robots and the like. Eventually, I graduated to more permanent materials like wood and plastic. Then came college, where I was too broke/cheap to pay for nice things like good sharp kitchen knives, so I naively decided to make them myself without realizing knives would actually cost more to make than buy.

Most things I make come from a desire to have something nicer than I could buy anywhere else. This is where net making comes in. I got tired of looking at my cheap, foreign made, wooden fishing net, so in the summer of 2015, I attempted making one for myself. To my surprise, the first one came out great and I still use it today! I do sell my nets occasionally as well as donate them to auctions and the like, but this is not my full time job - just a small side gig hobby to save up quicker to buy a house (with a larger workshop, of course!). I occasionally do other woodworking projects like ornamental boxes and such.

Inspired by the many net makers and woodworkers here on LumberJocks, I figured I would join and share. I'm always amazed at the comradery and willingness to share information among us woodworkers.
