« Part 7: Finishing the cabinet bases and building the torsion box Part 8 of Table Saw Cabinet for Craftsman 113 series Part 9: Back in business! »

Been at my wits end trying to align the top with the cabinet boxes and the table saw with the top. Seems like it would be super easy… Nope. Seems I should have built in some more wiggle room to adjust the table saw. As it is, I can’t adjust much to the left, cause there’s a cabinet in the way, and only so much space on the top for the edge banding to go around the top of the saw. Not to mention the table saw seems to tilt forward ever so slightly… As it sits, it’s about 1/8” difference from the back to the front. It’s perfectly level with the table at the back, and about 1/8 shy of it in the front. This is easy enough to fix with shims though. The best position I’ve gotten it in seems to leave the table top off by 1/16th to the front of the cabinets going left to right. I suppose that isn’t bad.

Anyway, this is where I’m at. I glued and screwed the whiteboard to the top today, and I’ll tell ya, I don’t see myself using that stuff for a table top in the future. I never imagined cutting anything worse than MDF, but this whiteboard was MUCH worse. Also, it seemed to really stink up my garage for some reason. Admittedly, I probably should have cut this down on my table saw before using a flush trim bit around the table. Instead, I just went straight for flush trimming it with it clamped to the top.

-- Don't think outside the box. Think as if there is no box at all.
