I am an internet amateur. That is to say, I spend all my free time learning how to do stuff on the internet. You remember that scene in "The Matrix" where Keanu plugs in for the first time, then wakes up and says, "I know kung fu!"

Well, I kind of took that to heart...

So now I'm an amateur fly tier, gardener, auto mechanic, kayaker, guitarist and, most recently, woodworker. I've been learning the latter from the Lumberjocks and many other sites for the past three years.

I do all my woodworking with hand tools ("Delicious Kool-aid, Reverend Schwarz, may I have some more?") and work with reconditioned planes, saws and chisels, out of a Dutch-style tool chest in a detached garage.

Hi Lumberjocks!

First I want to thank everyone here for the many, many useful and inspirational postings. I started woodworking just three years ago and this site has helped my education immensely. I am just a beginner and am in no position to give advice but still, I feel it is long past due time for me to express my gratitude by joining up and showing a little of what I have been doing in my humble garage workshop.

Thank you all!
