John's Workshop

Fairfax, VA 22031
United States

My workshop is one wall in a two car garage. I built a torsion box plywood and mdf workbench and hung a sheet of plywood for a tool wall. I have a festool track saw and an MFT, but most of my work now is using hand tools, using the workbench. The tool wall keeps the most common tools in reach and helps keep the workbench clutter free. The bench hooks, shooting boards and moxon vise are on the lower shelf.

To the right of the bench is some tools in systainers on rolling dollies, and a rolling tool cabinet, plus three cabinets above that. Sharpening station sits on the rolling tool cabinet. Not shown is a small wall of clamps on racks, and lumber storage above. Hung some LED strip lighting from shelves above the workbench. I also recently invested in a Rikon 10” bandsaw and already had a dewalt 13” lunchbox planer.

This is a new place for us, and I am enjoying a garage that has heating and AC, plus epoxy floors and plenty of ceiling height. We typically park only one car here, but I can roll everything away to put a second car in if we need to.
