i got 2 sets and frames and panels now. At first I did the panel in poplar because of this cool grain, but then realized the stain I want to use will hide the grain.
The arch in the tops was done using a very crappy skil brand jigsaw. I have yet to do the archs in the next set.
I made some panels from the oak to replace the poplar. Resawn on the table saw, so the kerf is kinda big, but still sort of a neat bookmatch (i don’t have a bandsaw).
I don’t have any pictures, but I have all of the other pieces cut to size. After I cut the tenons on those, then i get to do the mortises on the frame / panel sides to accept those tenons. I have an old craftsman router that will have to work for this. It’s not a plunge router, but does have an edge guide. Something is bound to happen, hopefully it’ll be good.
