Using metal storage shed for shop but adding wood frame walls to interior - 7 replies

This may be a pointless idea, but thought I’d ask anyway. If it worked out to be cheaper, would it make sense to get a large metal shed kit to use for a workshop with the plan to add wood framed walls to the inside of the metal shell once it’s up? My plan is to build a wood frame building, but seeing a large metal storage building go...

Board buddies on Delta T3 fence? - 2 replies

Got my Christmas bonus so I’m thinking of getting board buddies to go on my table saw considering the trouble I’ve had trying to cut plywood sheets by myself. However, I’ve seen some people express having a problem with them when using at Biesemeyer or clone fence since they don’t lock down in the back. Anyone have this t...

Contractor saw motor mounting - 1 reply

On my contractor saw (C-man 113) I’m wanting it to take up as little space as possible when it’s out of the way. One thought I had was to move the motor in as close to the body of the saw as possible. I have a link belt on it so that’s not a limiting factor, but I wondered if there was any reason I couldn’t get it in as c...

Craftsman table saw dust collector - 8 replies

As I was surfing around I came across a bit of an oddity. It seems from the early 70’s thru I don’t know when Craftsman sold a dust collector that attached to the 113 series table saw. Looks like it runs off the saw motor somehow (I’m guessing the belt). Anyone ever seen one of these? How well did it work? Was it a drag on the ...

Ryobi spindle sander screeching? - 1 reply

I saw a Ryobi spindle sander on CL for a good price. It’s the same one with the egg shaped table that has been sold under so many other manufacturer’s names (HF, Grizzly, Triton, etc.) In the ad he says it occasionally makes a loud screeching noise, and though he’s seen a fix for it, he just hasn’t done it. I looked and c...

Anyone bought a display Ridgid tool w/o all the parts? - 3 replies

I’m curious because there’s a display tool at a nearby HD that’s on clearance for about half price. Problem is, it doesn’t have all the parts. Being a Ridgid, and therefore HD’s house brand I wondered if I were to buy it would I be SOL as far as the missing parts, or would Ridgid be willing to replace them as part o...

Building a base for band saw - 4 replies

I recently got an older Craftsman 14” band saw. The way it’s currently set up, the motor mounts to the base behind the saw. In the interests of saving space I was thinking of building a slightly narrower base that would have the motor mounted underneath the saw. Any concerns with doing it that way I should consider? This is the sa...

Craftsman band saw - 12 replies

I had asked a few days ago about advice on a band saw I was going to look at. An older Rockwell/Delta with three risers and an asking price of $250. I ended up thinking better of it since the three risers made no sense and I’m glad I did. I ended up finding a Craftsman “Professional” 14” 137.224140 for $75. I know, it...

Possible band saw purchase advice needed - 8 replies

I’m going to take a look at a band saw tomorrow I’m considering getting but would like to get a little input here before I go. I know a few things to check for: vibration, trunions, tire condition, wheel alignment, but I know there’s more I should look for and consider especially from the picture. Yes, it apparently has three (...

Opinion on possible used band saw purchase - 6 replies

I’m looking to get a band saw and have found three I’m considering. I’d love to get something better than these, but around here people seem to think the one they have for sale is gold plated. Also with any of these, I need to be thoughtful about the cost of repair as SWMBO isn’t keen on my spending too much since it̵...

Does this look familiar to anyone? - 5 replies

It’s from a craigslist ad. Here’s what they say about it:For sale is this T-track hardware that was configured into a saw or router fence. Good condition but needs a dusting. One might reconfigure the pieces for another type of fence. This has a clamp down handle to release and tighten the position on the back extension. All of t...

Table saw extension wing ideas - 2 replies

Like most of us, one of my greatest constraints is space. My “shop” is about 2/3 of one bay of a small two bay garage. I’m in the planning stages for a workstation incorporating my table saw. What I’m planning on doing is much along the lines of the one that Greg Wurst did here: http://lumberjocks.com/gwurst/blog/4414 onl...

Powermatic III fence on Craftsman 113 series TS - 1 reply

I have the opportunity to buy a craftsman saw with a Powermatic III fence. The asking price is $200 obo. I would buy it only for the fence to put on my dads craftsman 113 series saw. The saw has the XR 2424 pants on it now. Would the Powermatic fence be a worthwhile upgrade?
