Spiers Smoothing Plane - To Restore or not to Restore?

Hi Lumberjocks, I have a Spiers smoother that I am not quite sure what to do with. Thought that someone out there might have some good ideas? (I have a photo of the plane in “My workshop” as I haven’t had a play around with the photobucket function yet.) It needs some work if it is to become functional as a smoothing plane but how much work is too much? I would like to have a functional Spiers plane but admitedly have several good Stanley and Norris smoothers so don’t really need one. I also don’t want to de-value the plane in any way.
