After seeing a few of my other veneer works, I was approached to make a Red Sox wall hanging for someone to give as a gift. Seeing as how I am still looking for more experience on this marquetry kick I’m on, I decided to go for it. Now, I’m not a fan of Baseball period, so don’t let this logo make you think I’m a Red Sox fan. We decided on a rather large size of 24”x24” overall, which will be more beneficial to me for the small pieces that needed cutting...

Part 2: Getting more baseball-like

Another day, another late night posting it seems. Going to keep this one short since it’s late and I have to get up in about 5 hours. I was only able to put in about another 2 hours on this, since my wife and I went kayaking after work and got home later. Tonight I added the white patches to the socks at the toes and the heels. Part 3: Just keeps getting bigger and bigger

So here is where we left off: This morning, I finished up the stitching on the other side of the baseball Once I got that finished, a friend came over and we went to a local car show for most of the day. When I finally got home, I started working on the outer circles. First thing I had to do was to make a 1/4” wide strip in Wenge that went around the full diameter of the baseball in order to help it stand apart from the larger white background.
