LJs, I would like to give you an information about a speilal events in our village.

Pratele, rad bych vas informoval o jedne udalosti v nasi obci.

In Europe
V Evrope

Czech Republic
Ceska republika

60 km (40 miles) westward from Prague
60 km zapadne od Prahy

there is a small village Luzna.
je mala obec Luzna.

There is an old church there. The church is quite rarely used for church purposes.
Je tam stary kostel, ktery se zridka vyuziva pro nabozenske ucely.

In may it was convertet into an art gallery for 3 days.
V kvetnu byl na 3 dny pemenen v umeleckou galerii.

Works of local artist were on display.
Vystavovala se dila mistnich umelcu.

Mr Zoubek (director of nearest gallery) opened the exhibition.
P. Zoubek (reditel nejblizsi galerie) zahajil vystavu.

Mrs Karolova and her daughter played strings and sang.
Pani Kalovova s dcerou hraly na kyraru a housle a zpivaly.

Painters, photographers,
Maliri, fotografove,


and carvers took place. Mr Cesal’s miniatures.
a rezbari se zucastnili. Miniatury pana Cesala.

Mr. Krsko (preacher), myself and mr Cesal (chairmen of our village citizen ogranization)

S manzelkou.

We collected some money, which we want tu use for maintenance of the church.
Ziskali jsme trochu penez, ktere chceme pouzit na opravy kostela.

What a great community event. It always amazes me to see the skills of the artists who live near me. Thank you for sharing.

Jiri, I completely enjoyed looking at your pictures. The church is very quaint and I can see how you all would want to keep it well maintained. I would love to see some other pictures of the village because I believe that it is probably very picturesque. Perhaps you could make another post with some more pictures of Luzna. I can see that you have some very talented artists and woodcarvers, including yourself. I can imagine listening to the beautiful music inside the church. Thanks so much for putting these pictures up and for telling the story behind them.

Velmi pěkná akce a některé nádherné řezbářské práce a dřevěné předměty.

Thank you for this posting. I very much enjoyed viewing it, as my grandparents came to America from the Czech Republic in the early 20th century, and I saw examples of what they must have left behind. Must have been hard for them to make such a decision.

I Live in Prague in Oklahoma, USA. A strong community with Czech Heritage including a Kolache Day Every Year. with Czech Dancing & Music. Google Prague Kolache Festival for Information

thanks for sharing the event with us :-)
I loved to see the church was used as I think churches schuold be used
as a building that can be used for everything that matters for the comunity

It is such a fine meeting, and so much joy to be read in the faces.
love your big statue (death).
I have been in Prag several times, both holydays and as a drawing teacher, I love that city.
