fresh olive limb. how soon can i use it? - 35 replies

My neighbor had his olive tree removed today. I snagged a limb about 5’ x 5” diamiter.I don’t want to use it so soon that it will warp and crack.I’ll paint the ends to slow down the drying but how long in Tucson’s dry climate do I let it rest?

Lathe motor overheating - 5 replies

I have a mini Jet lathe. I changed the motor a couple years ago because it overheated and quit running.I replaced it with a Jet lathe motor. I was turning some troop pens last week and the motor over heated again. Is it because I am running the motor too long? I thought it could be the belt being too tight but loosening it a bit didn’t...

I have been cutting some with my new scroll saw and am ready for a real project. I have been practicing with soft woods making lots of straight lines and circles, turning corners and practicing with the warm up exercise mentioned by some of the users here and in the scroll saw how to books.Now…I wana make some nativity sets from 2×6 ...
