Update on my variable speed not working - 2 replies

I found the culprit,a loose connection.I may have inadvertently done this my self when I replaced the on/off switch this past June.Just to confirm I held it place and the variable speed worked properly.I will have to solder the loose connection.Thanks,Jeff

I have a Grizzly 0658 variable speed lathe.I have power but the variable speed is not working.The digital readout lights up but as you turn the knob the lathe will not move.Any one know what might be the cause of this.Thanks,Jeff

Some floor mats for the shop - 3 replies

I purchased two floor mats for my shop today.Woodcraft here in Tucson had them 1/2 off at $17.99 a piece,originally $37.99.Threw one down in front of my lathe and the other in front of my makeshift workbench.Spent a few hours in the shop tonight and they do make a difference.My feet and back are happy:)

jacobs chuck vs bottle stopper mandrel. - 13 replies

Which would be better for turning a bottle stopper,a bolt with the head cut off and mounted in my jacobs chuck or an actual bottle stopper mandrel which would be self tapping after drilling?...I also thought mounting a bolt through a face plate…I would have to purchase a tap for the cut off bolt method..Would I have run out with the jacobs...

disappointed in Woodcrafts seam ripper kit - 10 replies

turned a seam ripper kit this evening and the rubber O rings will not fit into the brass tube…tried enlarging the inner diameter of the brass tube but have had no luck in getting a good fit and a few of the rubber O rings are now worn…anybody tried this kit and have you run into this same problem?...will probably take the kit back to...
