This is my first blog entry for my first project that I’m sharing here (or anywhere for that matter). I’m very new with this hobby but I’m enjoying it so far. Most of the few things I’ve worked on so far has been shop projects but I have other projects in mind that the shop stuff will (hopefully) help me get built. Part 2: The Top

As it turns out, I didn’t think to create a blog for the project until after I had already started. So, the top is already done. Construction was pretty straight forward, two layers 3/4 inch MDF with laminate surface and hardwood (soft maple) edging, corners rounded and edges chamfered. Part 3: SketchUp Plan

As I continue the process of designing the cabinet that will support the table, I am also improving my “fluency” with SketchUp. I sometimes find myself getting distracted with the software, trying to figure out how to do something or just challenging myself to see if I can do something when in reality I don’t need to be.
