I was drawn to woodworking later in life and I'm not really sure why. As a teenager, I learned to hate tools and what they represented in my life. I grew up in a house where my step-father made it abundantly clear from the start that he never wanted to see me touch his tools. And when a tool wnet missing, I was blamed immediately. Sometimes a friend who was over would actually be blamed for stealing tools.

So I grew up with practically no skills in fixing anything. I imagined that other kids grew up helping their fathers fix the car, or worked on pine derby race cars, but it certainly wasn't my experience.

Welcome to Lumber Jocks! This is a great place to get – or give – advice about woodworking on the forums and the project posts are a wonderful source of new ideas. I look forward to seeing your projects and posts.

To get the most feedback on your projects, it’s best only post 1 or 2 at a time. This way you will get feedback over several days and from a wide variety of members.

Please enjoy your membership.
