I also have the knives on the original head too if anyone is interested in those, there was a fair amount of life left in them. ̵...

Dovetail Jig and solid wood drawer bottoms - 3 replies

I have a Porter Cable 4212 dovetail jig and have used it quite a bit for making drawers, however, in the past I have always used plywood drawer bottoms. I just cut a groove that can easily be conceeled in the drawer itself. My current project is going to be using solid wood drawer bottoms and as I know what I want it to look like given a les...

Jet Air Filtration Filters - 1 reply

Currently I am using Merv 6 filters that run 4.99, however they clog up so quickly with dust that I have to change them quite frequently. I periodically beat the dust off of them and occasionally blow it off with compressed air. Spiral Cutterhead vs Straight Knives - 30 replies

I am trying to decide on whether to buy the Grizzly 15” planer with spiral cutterhead or get the Grizzly 20” planer with straight knives. The price is the same, thus the decision between the two. I currently have a 13” delta but was thinking for 99 bucks it wouldn’t be all that horrible to have a spare sitting around. Looks like it comes with the stand which I don’t care so much about but I am curious does anybody have any ...

Dyes and Maple - 10 replies

I am to the finishing stage for a bed I build for my son and my wife and I are hoping to get a medium to slightly dark redish brown color to the wood. I do not like the stains I have tested as they hide too much of the figure and grain so I have all but decided on using a dye. Now the dye I have tested (though not the color I plan to use just ...
